Mac Paw

I bought Mac Paw and few years ago and didn't bother putting it on my new laptop. For some odd reason, my laptop has been saving copies of files in triplicate and I'm spending the day deleting the doubles. It's getting tedious and I wonder if I should just drop the program in again. Then I noticed in the folder I kept on the Mac Paw products there was a string of emails between me and the developer who had tied some product called "Paddle" into the bundle. Interestingly enough, Paddle isn't in the App Store anymore. I guess I had an issue w/the old laptop and someone from Apple logged on remotely and said to get rid of that software IMMEDIATELY because it was "balloon-ware."

What say you peeps?

If you look through these Apple forums, there are many instances where people using "Clean My Mac" inadvertently damaged their operating systems causing no end of havoc and problems that they then post with requests for help. It may be working out for you, but it's not really necessary.

Examples of problems I have seen reported in these forums that were ultimately and painfully traced to Clean My Mac include computers that stopped booting due to deletion of certain files needed for proper operating system running, and iPhoto and Photos libraries becoming corrupted or unusable due to needed files deleted to "save on space."

Hi,

Which of their products are you talking about? I’ve used Clean My Mac and Genie for years and haven’t ever heard or experienced what you are. I definitely what to dig in deeper though to make sure. I think Paddle is what comes up when you check out after purchasing something from MacPaw. Again, I will Spotlight for Paddle to check for it as well.
