apple id verification failed

trying to set up new 12 pro max and it keeps asking to enter the unlock passcode for an old iphone that is no longer associated with my apple ID. when i enter the correct passcode error message say verification failed. there was an error verifying the passcode of your iphone

How do I approve a new phone from another device? I have an iPhone XR and somehow while in my pocket it did a full factory reset. After setting my phone back up it is now saying “Update Apple ID Settings - Some account services will not be available until you sign in again.” I have done this several times. It will ask for Apple ID password, iPhone password, then my iPad password. However, when I use my iPad passcode, it says “verification failed. There was an error verifying the passcode of your iPad.” I’ve done this probably 20 times now and I even used an old password but then the error message says incorrect password so I’m entering the correct password for my iPad. It will finally send an error saying I need to go to another device signed into iCloud to approve this phone. I have done this and the XR is on my list and showing up but I’m still getting the error code. Doesn’t seem to affect any functions just super annoying.

Verification Failed "There was an error verifying your password of your ipad" I was sign out my apple id and when i sign in again it says "enter ipad passcode" and then i put my ipad passcode and it says "enter old passcode" which was i didn't change my ipad passcode, I try to reset my ipad and it's still the same. :( hope someone can help me fix this problem:<

Hi redddbone99,

It seems you're being asked for an old passcode and can't set up iCloud Keychain and we can help.

This step isn't actually verifying your login, but instead it's verifying you to be able to set up and use the encrypted data for iCloud Keychain.

Try following along with the steps here that can help you set up or reset your iCloud Keychain:

If you see an option to reset encrypted data, several people have posted that they did that and lost little to no data.
