how do I authorize my computer to play itunes

Keeps stating computer not authorized to play iTunes....yet when I go to account to try to authorize it does not give me this option.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.1

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities! It seems you're being alerted to authorize iTunes, but you don't see the option to authorize iTunes.


Check for restrictions preventing the option from displaying, as mentioned in the article below:

"Get help

  • Learn what to do if your computer keeps asking you to authorize when you try to play your content.
  • You can deauthorize all computers once per year.
  • If you don't see Account in the menu bar at the top of your computer screen or the top of the Music app or iTunes window, check your Restrictions. You might have access to the iTunes Store turned off."
