UPDATE ERROR 4010

I cannot restore my iPod (gen 6 or 7) from my recent backup. This issue occurred after that most recent iPod update (Dec 2020). Now I get error #4010 when the restoration fails. Any clues how to resolve this? (other than toss the iPod in the trash)

Thanks for the reply. Previously I had tried the steps in the link "If you see an error when you update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod", but that did not work (did not allow the iPod to be restored from a backup). Plus, my Windows PC has all the latest software, and therein may be the problem. I mean, Microsoft never introduces changes that alters the way 3rd party software should work right? Especially competitor's device software.


NOTE: on accident I clicked the 'solved' button, but the issue is not solved.
