Use 2011 iMac as external display for Apple TV

Is there an Apple TV device of any kind that can use a 2011 iMac 27" as an external display?

I understand there are a lot of restrictions using these models like this, especially with non-Apple hardware

Sorry, no there is not. iMacs are computers and are displays for other devices, yes even other Apple devices. Apple TV's are designed to be connected to a TVs, however Macs can stream content to Apple TV's using either Home Sharing or also AirPlay assuming you system meets the minimum system requirements.

Hi

Im assuming you meant "... not displays for other devices" but I don't think that's correct in this case.

As I understand it, a suitable Thunderbolt equipped Apple device can use a 2011 iMac as a 2nd / extended monitor with restrictions

The question is whether there's any sensible way to connect an AppleTV device in this way.
