I wish to exchange an Apple Watch for an iPhone

I was given an Apple Watch for Christmas and I wish to exchange it for an iPhone but all the stores are closed due to Ontario Lock down until the end of January 2021. Can I still return the watch even though my husband was told I have to return it by January 7th
