Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference to kick off June 10 at 10 a.m. PDT with Keynote address

The Keynote will be available to stream on apple.com, the Apple Developer app, the Apple TV app, and the Apple YouTube channel. On-demand playback will be available after the conclusion of the stream.

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

I cannot use my registered gift card to purchase music from iTunes. It does not give me the option to use the gift card.

When I try to use my registered gift card to purchase music from iTunes it prompts me to verify a purchase method. When I click continue, it only shows the option for me to use a credit card or pay pal. My gift card does not show up. How can I use my gift card to purchase music from iTunes?

iPhone 7, iOS 14

Hi, The_Apple123.

We appreciate you taking the time to post in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that your Apple ID is requesting that you verify your credit card on file when trying to purchase music, but you want to make sure the gift card is used for the actual payment.

The request to verify your credit card on file is more of an account identity verification, and not requesting payment for the content you’re attempting to purchase. You will likely get the same prompt when you attempt to download something free from the App Store. Once you’ve verified your card you’ll be able to use your account, and the purchase will go through and charge your Apple ID balance. Note that you’ll need to redeem the gift card for the balance of the gift card to be transferred to your Apple ID balance.
