Haptic feedback is not working on a Magic Trackpad 2

After recharging my Magic Trackpad 2 the Haptic Feedback for Force Press no longer works. I have checked the Trackpad settings which appear to be right to have feedback on as well as reset SMC and NVRAM and rebooted a few times. Could this be hardware related and how can I confirm that?

I've done some testing and it seems to be when first starting to move, which indicates the trackpad is kind of going into a sleep mode? It takes half a second to wake up and start moving the cursor... Magic Trackpad disconnects often when attached via USB cable and 100% charged Mac Mini 2018, Sonoma 14.1.2, Firmware 1.9.2 on Magic Trackpad MK203AM/A Model A1535 - with the most recent version of Sonoma 14.1.2 this started happening. It appears that when attached via USB cable, and the Trackpad is at 100% charge, is disconnects and then reconnects when it is touched. This did not happen with 14.1.1 of Sonoma ... And it exhibits the behavior on two different Trackpads. When the USB is disconnected, the Trackpad stays connected ...
