How to stop annoying spoken Google results?

When I do a search on Google (using the Google app), if it is a commonly asked question, Google will speak the answer out loud. Occasionally this is helpful but most of the time I can't stand this feature! I'm sure there's an easy way to stop it but I don't know how. I used to be able to tap on the spinning dots on the right hand of the search field but when I do this now it initiates another search!

I'm sure there are a number of ways to do this but I'm looking for the simplest one. For instance, I can switch to another app or quit the app but those take me away from the results that I want to read!
