Ideally the max. temp. would not be more than 50C, but overall the stats aren't too bad. The pending sectors however will cause problems whenever the iPod tries to read data from them. This can result in songs that skip, or occasionally the device freezing up. You should ring the changes with restore, DFU restore, or reformatting the drive until you manage to get all of the pending sectors converted to reallocations. Once the pending count is down to zero you should be able to reload media to your device and enjoy further use of it. If there is media on the device that you don't have in your library start by reclaiming that first. See Corrupt iPod Classic - Apple Community for further advice.

Much progress! I tried the DFU restore but it stopped at a new driver reload so went for REFORMAT Drive. All went well and was able to sync 35G of music in two batches. All good.

I am running 12.4.3.1 on iTunes with windows 7 pro.

Itunes store will not connect, so am considering changing to 12.6.5.3. what do you think?

when I try to authorize this computer I get error message:

"Could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (0x8009032) please try again later".

Thank you again for all the support.
