I have first be able to replace the Avatar by a portrait shot of mine. After about half and hour the photo was gone and the old avatar again in place. Why is that?

Oh, I forgot to mention, now I cannot upload a personal photo again, as every editing only leads to ‘Edit Your Avatar.’ I have a beard and curiously a photo of my face wearing the full bears was rejected by a financial services website. Now again by Apple Communities. What does that mean?
