I am unable to view iTunes on MacBook Air and need to access previous purchases

SME,

If your MacBook Air is new, it will have the Music app instead of iTunes. See information in here: What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support

Regarding past purchases, depending how you migrated they may already be on your MB Air. But if you need to get new copies, follow this procedure: Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books - Apple Support
