Reboot the computer to Recovery mode:
Hold cmd+r while restarting
Select Terminal and enter:
csrutil enable
Boot the computer again normally.
You can also select the recovery drive by holding down the option key while booting the computer. If you cannot select it then I am wondering if there's some other problem happening that is confusing Etrecheck.
You tried to install Big Sur but it couldn't? I have zero experience with Big Sur and don't really know what changes it has wrought upon the drive structure landscape. If you did have a failed installation it sounds to me like it really messed up your drive and you will have to perhaps boot to Internet Recovery and start completely afresh. :-(
Thanks for the reply but I am unable to boot into the recovery mode.
I get error 5101D and it stops at the beginning
Well yes! I cannot boot into recovery mode.
Then I get error 5101D
When I do a web search the only two hits it seems to find refer to this being something in Big Sur. Is Big Sur involved in any manner on your computer?
