Apple Watch constantly renewing DHCP lease every few minutes

My partner and I both have Apple Watches (Series 3). While checking on my router logs, I noticed that both watches frequently get into snits where they are peppering my router with DHCP lease requests every few minutes, even though the leases they have been granted for 2 days by default. Here's a snip of my router logs showing the two watches repeatedly begging for premature renewal:

These little DHCP tantrums occur dozens of times in a day, and sometimes last quite a bit longer than what I've shown here. No other devices on my network have are exhibiting this behavior (at least not that I've been able to detect in the logs).

Any advice on what's going on here, and (hopefully) how to make it stop? It's more than a bit annoying, and wasteful -- and it's clearly unnecessary.... Feel's like when the kids sit in the back seat of the car, and incessantly repeat "Are we there yet?" until someone spins around and threatens mortal harm to them if they don't shut up...
