Why does Spotify not appear on the home screen after I pause it?

I use Spotify multiple times a day, and sometimes continuously throughout the day. But I'm having an incredibly aggravating issue where if I just tap the screen to awaken the phone(Without fully unlocking it), and pause Spotify, then come back - sometimes within a minute or two - and awaken the phone, the Spotify play "bubble" is gone! Even if I gesture down from the right hand top corner where the Apple Music shortcut is, it doesn't appear. I just switched from an Android phone to Apple and my android phone NEVER closed my Spotify bubble on the home screen unless I physically CLOSED the Spotify app. It didn't matter if I had it paused for hours. If the app was running, it would appear. Is this just something I will need to get used to? I hate having to pick up my phone, unlock my phone, open the Spotify app again, and then click play, and re-lock my phone. When I could always just tap and click play.
