Messages & FaceTime

I can no longer sign into Messages or FaceTime with my Ipad 5th gen. All other functions; apps, email, etc all work. When accessing Messages I am asked to sign in and am unable to do so. What should be our next steps?

Follow steps here If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support
