pdfs background turning colors in preview

All of a sudden pdfs documents go from white to colored background in preview. help.

Preview displays some pages of pdf as black / with thumbnails blank, and some pages of pdf / thumbnails as normal Preview displays some pages of pdf as black / with thumbnails blank; and some pages of pdf / thumbnails display as normal. is this a problem with the Preview App or the pdf file?

Preview - PDF Text Box - font color and background reverts back to black and Helvetica when reopening file. Using Preview >Markup PDF >Text Box >enter text >change text color and font >change text background (places solid any color box around text) ...close/save pdf. Next time I open the PDF, the text box reverts to color black fill, with black font, Helvetica, size 12 font. Essentially becomes a black box with hidden black text. Any ideas to a fix for this? Quite annoying as when I reopen PDF files all the text markups with backgrounds are just black boxes.

The background terminology in Preview is the window area around the PDF, not the PDF document background. In Preview Preferences : General, you can set the Window background to any color (including white), but not transparent.
