MacBook Air password

Mt wife just bought a new MacBook Air with the new Mac chip .... and every time she opens it from sleep she has to put in her password.... why ? I don’t have to do that with my Mac Book pro ....

It's required for new Macs and for startup disks encrypted with FileVault.
