file sharing with itunes - how can i clear the list of files

I have been using file sharing via iTunes to transfer files from my iPad to my PC. The list of files is now rather long. I would like to clear the list of files transferred without losing any data on the files stored in the actual app (e.g., Notability). Is this possible?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 14

See the Delete a shared file from your iOS device section of the related article above. I'm pretty sure that only deletes the copy of the document held in the iTunes File Sharing area and that your app will have its own private copy. Copy off all of your documents to local storage first. (I use folders of the form <iTunes Media Folder>\File Sharing\<AppName> for this so the data is backed up with the rest of my iTunes library.) Then try deleting one that matters least and see if it remains in the app. Assuming that works you can clear out the rest of the list.
