iMovie Project Folders
I have, by mistake, copied my old iMovie project folders to an external drive formatted as ExFAT. Now I can't move them back into my iMovie Library. What can I do?

O.K. By removing the projects from the Show Package Contents and then deleting them from there you likely corrupted your iMovie library. You must never remove, delete, or modify anything in the Show Package Contents folders or you risk corrupting your iMovie library.
Try looking in the iMovie backups folder to access a previous backup of your iMovie library and see if you can recover your projects. To get to the iMovie Backups folder, follow this file path from the Finder menu:
Go/Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.iMovieApp/Data/Library/Caches/iMovieBackups
When you get there you will see a list of previous backups of your iMovie library. Click on one dated just before your issue started. iMovie will open in that library. Navigate to your projects browser (where your projects are displayed as icons) and see if your projects are intact.

Hi,
What version of iMovie did you use to create the old project folders? What steps did you take to move the project folders? Did you move the individual projects or the folder containing the projects? What steps did you take to move the project folder back, and where where you trying to move them to?

I am using iMovie 10.2.2.
I have:
(1) Delete the Project from iMovie's Project List
(2) Used "Show Package Contents" on "iMovie Library" to view its subfolders
(3) Copied the project folders (entire folders) to my external hard drive (formatted as ExFAT)
(4) Deleted those projects from the "iMovie Library" folder
When I needed to work on the projects again, I tried copying them back to the "iMovie Library" folder (after doing "Show Package Contents"). But iMovie could no longer read or load the projects.
I have also tried to copy those project folders first onto a "MacOS Extented" format external drive. And then tried to get iMovie to read and open the projects from this external drive. But once again, iMovie was not able to do that.
Thanks.
