How to stop the Google “Before you continue” pop-up?

For years I’ve used Private browsing in Safari on my iPhone no issues at all but in recent months (probably since iOS 14), every time I type something into the search/url bar of safari I get the really annoying Google “Before you continue” sign-in pop over the top of the results! Is there a way of getting rid of this without 1. Losing private browsing 2. Signing in - defeats the purpose of private browsing.

it seems odd that Apple let’s this happen as a default response within its own browser unless I’m missing something or have a setting wrong!
