Airdrop not recognizing older MacBook pro in airdrop

Does anyone know how to get airdrop working on Big Sur? After the update it no longer recognizes older Macs. And there is no search for older mac in Big Sur's airdrop.

Hello jdwinc,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to use AirDrop on your Mac computers. We'll be happy to help.

We suggest to verify that the settings for AirDrop is properly configured on each of your Mac computers. To verify that, please follow the section in this article that says, "Before you begin": How to use AirDrop on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

In addition, we suggest to restart each of your Mac computers in safe mode. This helps to perform a basic check of your startup disk, deletes some system caches and more. Here's an article with more information and the proper steps to take: How to use safe mode on your Mac Once you're in safe mode, please restart each of your Mac computers and see if you continue to experience the same behavior.

Please keep us posted with the results.

Best regards.

My Airdrop recognized older MacBook pros before the Big Sur update. It's the update that is the issue, having used airdrop for many years. There is no issue with it recognizing my iPhone or iPad. Big Sur no longer recognizes the airdrop in an older MacBook Pro running High Sierra. This was not an issue when I was using Mojave OS.
