The ability to connect to a pre-2012 Mac through AirDrop was removed in Catalina. Use another method to transfer the data.

Airdrop from older mac to new airbook? Is it possible to AirDrop from my old MacBook Pro running El Capitan to my new MacBook Air? I opened AirDrop on the new Mac and selected "search for older Macs", that worked, the computers found each other. However when I try to AirDrop a folder from the old MacBook, the new computer does not receive the notification. Airdrop - Older MacBook cannot find new MacBook Airdrop has been working between Macbook Pro (Late 2013) with Sierra and other Macs and iPhones. But it cannot find my new MacBook Air (2020) with Big Sur. MacBook Air can find MacBook pro. How could I make the Old MacBook pro find the new MacBook air so that I can use Airdrop feature? Thanks!

Airdrop I have an Imac (mid 2011) that has airdrop showing, however, on purchasing a new Imac I am not able to airdrop between them? The new one has picked up phone and ipad no problem but I can't get it to work on the old one. I have seen somewhere that I should be able to do this can anyone throw any light on this please? I have done the usual turn off wifi and blue tooth, restarted mac etc, any help 'greatly' appreciated
