Can't hear the caller

When making or receiving phone calls, an orange dot appears in the upper right hand corner of the screen and although callers can hear me, I can't hear them.

Hello Gomadevi,

We understand that you're seeing the orange dot in the status bar on your iPhone, and people are able to hear you on calls, but you can't hear them. We'd love to help.

"An orange indicator means the microphone is being used by an app on your iPhone." More about that here: About the orange and green indicators in your iPhone status bar

Since you're not hearing people on the other end of a call, we'd like to ask a few questions to help isolate the issue.

  1. Does the issue only happen on calls? If so, does it happen on all calls, or is the issue intermittent?
  2. Does the issue occur when using the speakerphone or accessories, such as headphones as well?
  3. Were any changes made to the device or its settings before the issue began? If so what was changed?
  4. Which iOS version is your device running at this time? Find the software version on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

There's also some information on this page that can help with sound quality issues: If you hear no sound or distorted sound from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch speaker

Thanks!
