SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 2 TB not detected by imac 2019 (Catalina 10.15.6.) via thunderbolt 3 port

SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 2 TB not detected by imac 2019 (Catalina 10.15.6.) via thunderbolt 3 port (USB 3.1. 10 GB). I use Cable Matters Aluminum 10Gbps USB C Hard Drive Enclosure for 2.5" SSD/HDD https://www.cablematters.com/pc-1025-129-aluminum-10gbps-usb-c-hard-drive-enclosure-for-25-ssdhdd.aspx

The SSD recognized by USB 3.o. in imac. I also tried the SSD in Windows and it works fine via USB 3.0. and thunderbolt (USB - C). I read about all the possible solutions on the internet but I could not solve the problem. Any idea?

Thank you

  1. You should contacted CablesMatters on the issue with the enclosure.
  2. Plus I've seen mostly bad reports using SanDisk SSDs as startup drives for Mac's.

Option 1 take/send back that enclosure and try a different USB-C enclosure.

Option 2 take/send back that SanDisk SSD and try another brand like OWC or Crucial.

Option 3 use it connected to USB 3.0, which is a plenty fast enough connection for a SATA SSD.

Option 4 take/send both the Enclosure and the SSD back and purchase the Envoy Pro EX from OWC.
