Apple Watch-Downhill Skiing

Anyone use their watch for skiing? Hiking? I stop for a rest or on the chairlift and it does not start again. When it's cold out, I certainly don't have my watch exposed. Also whether I have the activity workout on or not, The DID YOU FALL goes off and is vibrating on my wrist. I had more accurate exercise recorded on my FitBit than this expensive watch. I have all the alarms ON to start up, like it says for running. Location is ON. I'll call Apple Support but they go through their algorithms and probably not experienced skiers.

Thanks for any feedback or advice you can provide!
