Hello x0812g,
We understand you are having difficulty connecting your headphones to your iMac. You’re in the right place; we’d be glad to assist in seeking a solution.
Are you trying to connect headphones via a wired connection, or do your headphones use Bluetooth? If you're using wired headphones, make sure they are selected for your output sound using the steps here: Change your sound output settings. There are also some steps in the "If you’re trying to listen through external speakers" section in the following support article that may be helpful: If you can’t hear sound from your speakers. Also, make sure 'Mute' is not check-marked in sound settings within System Preferences.
If you're using a Bluetooth headset, make sure your headset is in pairing mode and then follow these steps: Set up a Bluetooth audio device to work with Mac. If the issue persists, we suggest you restart your Mac and check for Bluetooth interference, as described in the following support articles: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac & Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference.
If additional assistance is needed, it would be helpful to know if you're able to pair other Bluetooth accessories with your Mac, and/or if your headset works with a different audio source.
Cheers.

I think the problem is the version is not supported. The latest version shown on the info you sent was Sierra and I guess El Capitan was before that??? My iPhone 7 works with them but the IMAC from late 2013 does not recognize the device. Thanks for your help.
