Using dual monitors with MacBook Pro mid 2012

I just bought a Sceptre curved monitor to use as my main screen but I also have a smart tv that I would like to use as my second screen. Would using a hdmi splitter work to have these working? I have a thunderbolt hdmi adapter that I currently have hooked up to my main screen.

Thanks

If you can somehow get both monitors to work with an HDMI splitter, they would show the same screen (screens mirror one another). I'm not even sure that would work as the different screens would no doubt need different drivers.

The way to use multiple monitors is to connect each separately to the Mac via its own appropriate cable (and adaptor if necessary). Each can be assigned its own driver and you can select either screen mirroring or the extended desktop (not mirrored).
