Jagged Lines on IPad 7th generation with Apple Pencil 1st Generation

I have the IPad 7th gen and Apple Pencil 1st gen. Whenever I write on any app with my palm on the screen I get jagged and uneven lines, is there a way to fix this? I have tried resetting and rebooting the IPad multiple times and disconnecting and reconnecting the pencil, and every time it works properly for about one minute and then it begins getting jagged again. Is it a hardware defect or a software issue? Should I send the pencil back?

iPad, iPadOS 14

Hi North_West_Ski_Bum,

We understand that you're seeing some unexpected behavior when drawing lines on the iPad while your palm is resting on the display. To clarify, does this only happen when your hand is on the display, or does it happen at other times as well? Also, does the problem continue with any cases or screen protectors removed?

The resource below may help as well.

If the screen isn’t working on your iPhone or iPad

Please let us know some additional details, and we'll work from there.

Best regards!
