Screen is totally dead - iPhone 12 mini. Can't shut down - requires the screen. Also, phone goes black, then background shows, then goes black again intermittently. Neither Apple support, or ATT support (where I bought it) can help. Fix?

How do I get the screen to come alive again when it is dead? I cannot shut down the device, because that requires use of the screen. Phone also goes black, then comes back, then black intermittently. 1 month old phone - iPhone 12 mini - never been dropped or gotten wet. Has a case and screen protector.

The ATT customer service rep tried over the phone with no luck. She then transferred me to Apple support who tried, with no luck. They made an appointment for me to take it to Best Buy. It's likely I will be getting a new phone. Disappointing. It is a 1 month old iPhone 12. It is unlikely I'll be able to download my stuff from the cloud, which means I'll have to reenter everything by hand.

i have a new iPhone 12 and screen doesn't respond to touch at all. have done soft and hard reset multiple times - still doesn't work. phone is brand new (<30 days). took off silicone case and still nothing. took to AT&T - was told they only replace within 14 days. no apple stores open due to Covid. so only option is to ship in the phone. which means i'm without a phone (which i need for my job). very frustrating.
