What's in the box has changed?

I just opened a new SE 6 phone and there is no plug in the box. Only a cord with 2 lightning connectors were in the box. Why do they not provide an adapter? Do I need to buy that separately? Will the old chargers still work?

This is my 3rd SE 6 purchased in 2020 and the first one that did not come with the normal USB plug in to the adapter.

I have also asked for in store assistance and have been denied due to the Pandemic. I feel lost and disappointed in Apple Service.
