The iPad mini6 uses a newer and much advanced USB-C port.
Your new iPad mini will have been supplied with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C to USB-C charging/data cable. You can use an older (less powerful) 12W Power Adapter, that has a USB Type-A connector, by using a USB Type-A to USB-C cable - although charging will be slower.

It is true, however, that any accessories that you have that utilise a Lightning connector cannot be used with your new iPad. Depending upon what they are, they may require replacement.

Many iPads model (besides the Mini 6th gen) are already using the same charging port (and consequently the same cable) since 2018.
