Charging cable for iPad mini 6

Why has the charging cable and port for iPad mini 6 changed from all my other apple phones and iPad. This is not made clear and does this mean I have to now buy more plugs and cables?

The iPad mini6 uses a newer and much advanced USB-C port.

Your new iPad mini will have been supplied with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C to USB-C charging/data cable. You can use an older (less powerful) 12W Power Adapter, that has a USB Type-A connector, by using a USB Type-A to USB-C cable - although charging will be slower.

It is true, however, that any accessories that you have that utilise a Lightning connector cannot be used with your new iPad. Depending upon what they are, they may require replacement.
