How do I set up third party apps to work with touch ID?

I'm trying to get my password manager and various bank and credit card apps set up with Touch ID. The Apple literature seems to get me as far as getting its own apps working, but I'm finding nothing that explains third party apps. What am I overlooking?

Thanks in advance!

Right - got that. I actually had earlier versions of those apps working with iOS 13. Since then, a bank, two credit cards, and Apple have all upgraded. (Hopefully they all know which way is up.) Somehow, I'm not finding things in the settings interface that I think I remember from iOS 12 or 13, when I first installed them all. Seems like something in the OS has changed since earlier. I did actually read the pertinent section of the iOS 14 Manual, without finding anything that appears to help. Three of them claim to work with Touch ID, and the other is silent. The instructions for my password manager mention an OS setting that doesn't seem to exist.
