How to by pass the activation code

My friend ended up giving me a new phone and I didn't know he found on the sidewalk found. He never returned it and now I'm stuck with and activation code that I cant by pass. I need help figuring this out because I'm stuck with a phone that cant be used and is now on me

Without the original owner's assistance, which clearly you cannot receive, this iPhone will remain useless forever.

How about you do a good thing and return the device to the owner. Bring it to the carrier or the police station.
