Switch to light mode

I have a new iPad Pro and it seems to have gotten stuck on dark mode. I can’t figure out how to get it back on light mode. I don’t know how it got on dark. I have tried going to system-display and brightness-appearance. It has the light mode checked. It also says under auto/night mode that the time set is 10:00pm-7:00am and the time is currently 8:45.

any suggestions?

First, open the control center by swiping down from the top right corner of your screen. Next, press and hold the bar that you would use to adjust brightness. Once you have done that, there should be a little icon that has a corresponding text based on your current appearance.
