iPhone XR video sound muffled and clipped

Hi, when I record videos using my iPhone XR, the sound is muffled (background static), low volume and gets clipped.

I updated to the latest iOS (iOS 14.3), reset all settings, and read up on various forums for solutions to no avail (toggle on and off noice cancelation, speaker works fine, etc.). I’ve spent hours trying to trouble shoot this.

I have no issues with recording using Voice Memos or when dictating using voice. However, Siri does not respond to voice command!

i ran a third party diagnostic on all three mics on my iPhone XR ans they all checked out fine, which would rule out a hardware issue.

i am an engineer and have technical abilities, but this is driving me crazy. Please help if you have solutions!
