Charging my apple watch

My Apple Watch is not charging properly. The face is black when lying on the magnetic charger and when I press the side bar a red charging icon appears on the left hand side and the clock in digital formation on the right. The clock is working and telling the right time. I have tried to force the watch to restart but even when I press the dial and the side bar together the phone will not restart and is not showing the apple logo. Can anyone help me?
