M1 macbook automatically turns on when passing through the magnet on the sleeve lid.

Hi KimJunFe,


Newer MacBooks, including yours, automatically power on (even if they are completely shut down) if any of the following occur:


  • The lid is opened.
  • A key is pressed on the keyboard.
  • Touch ID (the power button ) is pressed.


What I suspect is happening is that the magnet in your sleeve lid might be tricking your Mac into thinking that the lid is opened, causing it to power on.
