So for new Macs that have M1 chips, Mac users need to download a language, literacy and brain-fitness software in order to use Turbo Tax 2020...but if you have an older Mac with an Intel processor, downloading Rosetta is not required because it is already coded in the software to work with that processor.
This is not the same language Rosetta you're thinking about. That's Rosetta Stone. The Apple Rosetta is a system add-on that lets older intel apps work with M1. It's free and safe.

Because TurboTax 2020 hasn't been recoded to work with the M1 chip in the new Macs.

The rosetta needed to run Intel-compatible programs on Apple M1 hardware is not the "Rosetta Stone" language instruction system, just FYI. It seems that was what you were referring to here when you said "Language, literacy and brain-fitness" software. No, just a computer program translator tool from Apple.
Again it's not Apple's responsibility to make sure 3rd party apps work with their system. It's the 3rd party developer's responsibilities.
And, for the most part, Turbotadx 2020 does work with Big Sur. There are only a few who've reported here that can't get it to work. For most of us it works fine.
So go to Intuit and ask them for help as it's their product.
I had the same issue with Turbo Tax 2019 and 2020 not loading using Big Sur operating system. I had to remove Big Sur and reinstall Catalina back into my iMac Pro 16. After reinstalling Catalina both the Turbo Tax programs 2019 and 2020 now work.
It is too embarrassing for both Apple and Intuit that they could not provide a patch for the tax software to work with the operating system Big Sur. I'm not a happy camper I had to go through so much trouble spending hours trying to get the tax program to work. Shame On Them!!!

Funny enough, Rosetta Stone doesn't work either.... I understand now that there is two different rosetta's. Hopefully they fix their program to load.
Thanks!
This topic is about installing Rosetta so the TurboTax 2020 will run on a M1 MacBook Pro.
What "program" are you referring to and who is "they"
I just bought the latest Apple MacBook Air M1-2020. I upgraded to MacOS Big Sur 11.3 then bought TT Deluxe 2020 and installed Roseta software. Working on my taxes now. Everything is working as expected.
It's up to Intuit to make their software compatible with Big Sur. Assuming they expect their users to be able to run it.
TT2019 and TT2020 work with Big Sur but the load initially was very slow. Once installed it works fine.
Where did you find Catalina to download? I am not impressed with Big Sur.... I can't get Rosetta Stone to work on Big Sur.
See my last post. You're confusing Rosetta Stone with Apple's Rosetta.

You have to back-up your computer and then reinstall Catalina. Check with Apple support for downloading the software.
