Notifications of iCloud cancellation

I was notified that my iCloud has been locked as of Jan.3, 2021. Is this a legitimate notification or fake?

please advise. If this is legitimate why was iCloud locked?

It's fake - Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support.
