why does my system take up over 100GB?

I have no storage on my macbook because 'system' takes over 100GB thats 95% of my storage and I can't delete any of it because I can't access it. I also pay for more icloud storage but doesn't help either. Please help me delete it

Normally, the "System" category is data stored on the read-only volume of the drive, and can't be changed by the user. To ensure we don't miss anything, can you let us know which version of macOS is currently installed?

Got it! If you don't have enough storage space to update the Mac, the next step would be to try and manually manage the storage to free up additional space. In macOS Mojave, the System storage may include personal or third-party data that ended up there for some reason. The article below provides additional steps you can try to free up space.
