Accessing images for Keynote from photos library on external disk

I have the new M1 Mac Mini.

Because of the small size of the internal disk I had to place my Photos library on an external disk when I migrated data from my old iMac to the Mac Mini.

Now when I try to access images to use on Keynote or Pages or Pixelmator I get this message.

If I open Photos App I can physically drag and drop images. Is there a setting I am missing?

Hi

Go into photos (with your library open), then photos>preferences

Click the button "use as system photo library"
