USB 3.0 card needed for 2009 8-core Mac Pro 5.1

Hi,

I’d like to start streaming music lessons from my studio. I’m looking at fairly high end Logitech Brio Ultra HD 4K webcams to facilitate this. They require USB 3.0 connectivity.

I have a 2009 8-core Mac Pro 5.1 32GB running OSX 10.10 Yosemite as it’s the most stable for what I do.

Can anyone advise what card I need to add the USB 3.0 connectivity please? The inateck 4 ports on Amazon does not support Yosemite or above according to it’s spec.

I would really appreciate any advice.

Sonnet Tech sells four different cards -- two USB-A and two USB-C.

I have been looking at the four port 5GBits/sec model for list price US$50. No Mac driver required, and provides more than 500 milliAmps power on each port without having to "find" a power source inside your Mac Pro.

I’d like to stream 3 cameras simultaneously so think the more power, the better.

That card features higher speeds (10 Gbits/sec) and good power for each port. It appears to maintain the advantages of power from the PCI-e Bus, no need to "find" power outlet inside your Mac, and no Mac Drivers required.

If you think you might ever need those, it may be worth nearly 3 times the price of the slower card.
