CNN no longer on Apple TV?

I have a 3rd Generation. Where did CNN disappear to?

According to a user in a similar thread, he or she has received confirmation from Apple Support staff.

You are not addressing Apple here. We on this forum are end users much like yourself. It seems that CNN ended the service, as likely it is a lot of special effort for a shrinking group of users of these models devices.

CNN has dropped support for 3rd Generation (and earlier) Apple TVs, something you would have known if you'd read the thread before posting.

That is an Apple TV (3rd generation).

Do check if the CNN app was accidentally set to Hide. Then unhide (show) if needed. Move and hide apps on your Apple TV - Apple Support. Settings﹥Main Menu﹥

- There is no list of currently available apps per region for that model.

- The CNN site doesn’t detail beyond which general platforms they support.

Licensing is the Culprit:

Ask CNN where this all stands. This all has to do with licensing between Apple and the Studio (CNN, in this case). It is the same reason as to why Music, Movies and TV Shows are removed from the iTunes Library.

i have an AppleTV GEN3 and the CNN app has gone missing but all I have to do is open the CNN app on my iPhone and push it to the appleTV. Meanwhile I can still use my phone to type this message.

I have 4 different apple Tvs, all different gens. The only one that is capable of Cnn is the new one, as it is an app. Just as other users state, the app just went poof and disappeared. Currently i am using airplay from an ipad to stream CNN from the ipad to apple tv.

Really frustrating as I stream CNN often while working and now it doesnt work.

Looks like the only way to watch it is to air play it from another device! What a crock!!!!

U don’t have to spend the $150 for a new Apple TV device u can opt for using another device like Roku or fire stick to access CNN.

Additionally you can let CNN know how u feel. I’m particularly upset with CNN doing this on a Election Day and in the midst of a pandemic. Shame on them!

It’s about moving us into their 4K world.

U don’t have to spend the $150 for a new Apple TV device u can opt for using another device like Roku or fire stick to access CNN.

It's up to CNN to decide if they want to continue to support hardware that's now eight years old and has been superseded by not one but two models.

What country are you in that it's Election Day? Perhaps there are other local news sources that might give you the information you need.

I have 2 3rd gen Apple TV’s, the CNN App is gone from the main menu and is not listed as an option to unhide, it’s simply gone.

Same here.

I am sure Apple would love everyone who is put out with the app no longer being supported on the older devices to upgrade to Apple TV 4k (to use CNN Go). Very annoying.
