"CNN no longer on Apple TV?: If the AppleTV suddenly had like no apps would we be told to reach out to each separately? Odd way for Apple to handle..."

"why"?: To get this fixed. So, while you wait to hear back....

Report this to Apple:

Do Your Part: The more Apple hears about this desire, the more likely they are to make changes to this. So, to fix this, make it a suggestion to Apple.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Apple TV - Apple
  2. Select: "Suggest an app" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Proceed from these as necessary.

"Yes, but shouldn't Apple alert their customers about any licensing change, instead of one hour CNN is available and the next it is gone. They wasted a couple hours of my time troubleshooting, if the lapse of a licensing with CNN is the culprit."

Give Apple Feedback:

If you feel let down, and things aren't the way you like it, then let Apple know how you feel.

That is an Apple TV (3rd generation).

Do check if the CNN app was accidentally set to Hide. Then unhide (show) if needed. Move and hide apps on your Apple TV - Apple Support. Settings﹥Main Menu﹥

- There is no list of currently available apps per region for that model.

- The CNN site doesn’t detail beyond which general platforms they support.

I have a 3rd Generation. Where did CNN disappear to?

According to a user in a similar thread, he or she has received confirmation from Apple Support staff.

Are you no longer providing access to CNN?

You are not addressing Apple here. We on this forum are end users much like yourself. It seems that CNN ended the service, as likely it is a lot of special effort for a shrinking group of users of these models devices.

I'm posting on this thread again because I am really shocked about this. I have four 3rd Gen Apple TV's, I primarily use them watch CNN and little else. I'm not big into TV Shows, or Movies I pay attention to what's happening in the world around me. To me that's what's most important. Truly CNN and news in general encompasses all genres; drama.comedy, action and very much horror.

For reasons unknown and without warning my main source of information has been taken away and I'd like to have it back right away.

Licensing is the Culprit:

Ask CNN where this all stands. This all has to do with licensing between Apple and the Studio (CNN, in this case). It is the same reason as to why Music, Movies and TV Shows are removed from the iTunes Library.

I believe/hope Apple monitors this support Forum.

CNN dropping off suddenly made me think I had a technical problem with my AppleTV, and maybe I needed to re-login with my cable provider, update the firmware on my AppleTV, or switch CNN to Show, if somehow it got hidden inadvertently.

Wasted a couple hours on this yesterday, after realizing now that this is a widespread problem with other customers.

It’s about moving us into their 4K world.

U don’t have to spend the $150 for a new Apple TV device u can opt for using another device like Roku or fire stick to access CNN.

Additionally you can let CNN know how u feel. I’m particularly upset with CNN doing this on a Election Day and in the midst of a pandemic. Shame on them!

I have been using CNNgo on my apple tv for years and you suddenly cut it off in the middle of one of the most important news stories of the century?! Why? I notice that you take apps off the appleTV all the time and sometimes you don’t even have apps like HBOMax. So I ask you: why should I ever buy another apple TV. I’ll switch to fire stick.
