how can I download iMovie 9.0 ?
Every time I attempt to download the most compatible version of iMovie for my 2012 MacBook Pro, I receive a message that I need to have iMovie 9.0 or later but there's no available link to download.

Hi, keiseana,
iMovie 9 has been discontinued by Apple and is no longer available at the app store.
However, take a look at this thread (read it all the way through) and you will find some ways to download iMovie 9.0.9.

Can you tell us what operating System you are currently running on your Mac?
If you are running El Capitan or later then iMovie ver 9 may not run very well, or even at all .
Do you ever recall having iMovie versions 9 or 10 on your Mac ?
If you bought your 2012 MacBook Pro before October 2013 then it would have had iMovie ver 9 .
If Apple were selling the 2012 MacBook Pro after Oct 2013 then it may have shipped with iMovie ver 10 along with the OS Mavericks .
In either case iMovie may be listed on your PURCHASED page of the App Store .
So sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and go to the Purchased Page.
Do you see iMovie listed on this page ? If you do then you should be able to download a compatible version.
