How do I get rid of a small semi-opaque grey dot that has appearen on all screens of my iPad?

I have no idea where this small circle of about half-a-centimetre comes from. It is not a pixel failure because it rotates to a different position when I rotate the screen. When looking for a solution I read that it might be connected to a wireless mouse or to the “Dwell” function. I have no mouse attached. (Never) and I have no idea what “Dwell” is.

The grey circle appears in all programs, and on the home screen, as well as on the “lock” screen.

I cannot move the grey circle with my finger and it does not do anything when I tap it.

See photo below. I have circled the annoying dot. As you can see, I am not the first user to have this problem.

Thanks for the answer. I have tried to test what you say (someone being connected to my iPad) by turning off WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN, Mobile Data and putting my iPad in airplane mode. I also turned my iPad off and on again. The grey dot still appears. I think it should have disappeared if in airplane mode - if it were an indicator of someone being connected. It does not move ever, and I cant move it with my finger. It only changes to a new location when I rotate the screen.

i have never connected a mouse, and as far as keyboards are concerned, I only have the native iPad (UK English) touch screen keyboard enabled.

Below is a screenshot showing the grey dot still present in Airplane mode.

No one is remote controlling your device.

No one!

hat could be the cursor that shows up IF you have an Accessibility, Switch control toggled ON

OR

this is the mouse/trackpad pointing cursor, of which the settings are also found in Accessibility, under Pointer Controls.

OR

Under Accessibility, Assistive Touch, check to see if anything is activated under Pointer devices.

That dot looks suspiciously like the mouse/trackpad screen cursor just enlarged to a ridiculous size, which can be adjusted under Accesibilility, Pointer Controls.

It’s an iPad your using right?

try going to Setting, General, Rest, Subscriptions then choose to reset both of the options there that might help as when I am being hacked and under cyber attack I always reply on that

i get **** with my device all the time

also you could and screen time it away if u have Apple TV or a smart tv mirror ur screen that might sort it as there is clearly a live visible connection to you device that is 100% the issue

If your iPad is getting hacked/attacked, you must have jail broken your iPad.

This is a near impossibility IF your are running the official Apple iPadOS as iPadOS is a secure and “sandboxed” OS.

There is no way for an iPad to get easily hacked or any adware/malware or viruses to get introduced.

If your iOS devices are getting constantly hacked, you have a problem with YOUR iOS devices and I encourage you to contact Apple Support directly in California via the Contact Support link in the upper, right-hand corner of every Webpage of the Apple Support Community Web area.

Your iOS devices have some sort of serious issue that needs to be fixed/solved by Apple.

No one else that posts here has any iOS device hacking issues.

Good Luck to You!

Assistive Touch has nothing to do with people connecting to the iPad. It's just exactly what its name implies, an assistive feature
