ITV Hub - MacBook Pro - sound off after advert break

Hi ... Watching any program on ITV website it goes .. Adverts (fine) - Part 1 of program (sound is fine) - Advert Break (fine) - Part 2 of program (no sound). Fixed it by coming out of the program, going to start another program (adverts fine - 1st part sound is fine) then back to Resume - to get Part 2 of the program I had been watching & the sound is fine till the next ad break.

Lots of emails to ITV support - they say they can't replicate it on a macBook with Safari or Chrome. They say the problem is with Safari because Safari starts the program.I get the problem with Safari & with Chrome. It doesn't make sense that it's not to do with ITV. I think sound on adverts is compressed - so maybe that switches something that doesn't get switched back. Why is there no problem with the Part 1 of the program after the initial adverts ?

This problem started in the last month. ITV say nothing to do with them.

Any ideas ?

I found out about the mute in the address bar by accident.

I have been having exactly the same problem. (No sound after ad breaks) I exit full screen mode, mute then unmute in the address bar, go back to full screen and it’s resolved. It is really annoying though.

I have MacBook air running BigSur version 11.2.3 and the M1 chip .

I'm having the same problem as well, I have a MacBook pro 2013, and OS Big Sur 11.1. I have found that if you reduce the page and look at the address bar at the top of the page next to itv.com on the right along side the refresh symbol a "mute this page symbol" will appear just as the programme resumes by clicking on this twice the sound will resume on the itv programme, it's a simpler work through than a full refresh.

I have also noticed the warning about my passwords being compromised since I updated to the new operation system.

I feel it must be something to do with Big Sur.

Sorry for delay in replying. I was also having problem with graphics, since installing Big Sur, on Trainz program so I have installed Windows 10 by partitioning my hard drive using ‘boot camp’. (On YouTube there is a video on how to install at no cost). Using Windows to play ITV Hub sound is fine all the way through and graphics are also fine on Trainz on Windows. Will ask question on this forum on how to get Apple to take these issues on.

Some others have got on to Apple and they say they don't have a solution. I would say that they probably don't have it as a high priority because it must involve around one or two line of code to fix it.

A solution that someone posted that works well is to minimise the screen and there's a Mute button in the top line of the screen. Mute & Unmute and the sound comes back.

I've had a few more updates since Big Sur came in and none of them have fixed the problem.
