Remote control over internet

To better communicate with my grandmother who are unable to operate the iPad reliably, I want to be able to access the iPad whenever she have problems. Are there any plans to make this service available over the internet? Or is it possible to set up a VPN link to get around the limitation?

This function would be very helpful not only during the pandemic, but also afterwards as she lives over 2 hours away by car. I guess the alternative would be to use a Android tablet, but I was hoping to use an old iPad Air for this.

Remote control of an iOS/iPadOS device is not supported. As for Apple’s future plans in this regard, nobody here has any insight into Apple’s product roadmap beyond that publicly announced.
